Around You & No Further

This series of photos was inspired by catching small details around me-literally-and letting those details soak in, whatever they may be. In life, it is so easy to go 50mph, looking in one direction, missing the tiny things as you pass them by. I challenged myself not to live like that, thus purposefully slowing down and finding something as mundane as excess condensation on a table reflecting light shining through trees just gorgeous. Or seeing this beautiful red-pink flower outside of work sitting against the gray pavement. I would have missed that had I not been open to what was going on around me.
I did enhance each photo in Photoshop to make minor color, level, and saturation adjustments that got lost taking the photo. In addition, I changing the ppi for print. I aimed to bring the image back to what it was when I first saw the subject, with the goal to help the viewer appreciate that subject as I did.
As it is with my work, I don’t seek to keep it to myself. I like to do work that engages or inspires others around me in different ways, whether it be through running adventures or paying more attention to one’s surroundings. I apply thoughtfulness in everything I do.
